How it works

The roles
You have no special power. Watch, listen and vote out the Mafia.
Each night, choose one player to eliminate with your family. Blend in by day.
Leader of the Mafia. You look innocent to the Detective and break ties at night.
Each night, save one player from the Mafia. You may be able to save yourself.
Each night, investigate one player to learn if they are Mafia.
You win alone if the town votes you out. Act suspicious, but not too much.

How do you play Mafia online?
One person creates a room and shares the link or room code. Everyone joins on their phone with just a name. The app deals secret roles, runs the night phase, times the discussion and counts the votes.
How many players do you need for Mafia?
You need at least 4 players, and it works best with 7 to 15. The host chooses how many Mafia, Detectives and Doctors to include.
Is Mafia the same as Werewolf?
Yes, it is the same game with a different theme. A hidden minority eliminates players at night while the town tries to find them by day.
Do I need to download an app or sign up?
No. PlayMafia runs in your browser. Joining takes a name and a tap. An account is optional.
Can we play with one phone?
Yes. Pass-the-phone mode lets a group sit around a table and pass one phone for roles, night actions and votes.
Can a human narrator run the game?
Yes. The host can be God: run the game and narrate live while the app acts as the console, or let the app narrate automatically.
